Collar Me Bad

Ugh. Arthur has learned how to pull his collar off and he's now doing it several times a day. It's one of those breakaway collars and he's able to break it away at will. We've tried making it looser or tighter but it doesn't matter. Should I get him a new collar and, if so, what kind should I get? I want the collar to stay on, but I also want it to be safe. Any ideas?

If they are indoor cats what do they need a collar for? And have you bought those boys a cat tree yet?

Looks like Arthur's getting too smart for his own good!
Best wishes to Arthur and Beowulf for a very happy birthday,

Sounds like a great birthday present to me ;) I have a regular collar that I leave loose on Timothy and he seems just fine with it. Not every cat is the same though...

We've got a regular collar on Max right now; we had stretchy ones on both of them, but Buddah "helps" Max take it off, so we went back to a small-dog collar.

If you're like us, you keep them collared with tags in case they get out... I'd love to let them go without, because they like it so much more, but there's always that worry...

They need a collar and tags in the unlikely event that they get out of the house and get lost. Maybe it won't happen at home; maybe it will happen on the way to the vet or something like that.

You could always microchip them, which is what I'm going to do next time they go in for teeth cleaning. I lost Bailey once for 3 days and was beside myself. Next teeth cleaning, he gets a microchip.

They are chipped (they were chipped when I got them), but most casual people don't look for the chips and don't know how to read them.

happy bday 2 da boyz! my older cat learned 2 snap her breakaway collar very early on so neither of my 2 indoor kitties wear collars now except when they leave the house (vet). i got lucky, they're both afraid 2 go outside - if u take them out, they fight u and quickly run back into the house. and yes, they're microchipped as well. i've heard some ppl say that 'beastie bands' which r a stretchable collar with a tight velcro closure work pretty well but can't say from experience.
